App-Based Yoga of Immortals: A novel easy-to-use intervention in the management of urinary incontinence

Yoga of Immortals research

JOURNAL: Urology, July 2022

The objective of this study was to study the effectiveness of Yoga of Immortals (YOI) in participants with urinary incontinence (UI) of all types. YOI uniquely combines specific yogic postures, breathing exercises, sound therapy & meditation and is practiced by many for general well-being.
The YOI intervention resulted in significant improvement in mean scores on ICIQ-LUTS-QOL; ICIQ-UI-SF; frequency and severity of urinary leak; and daily life activity. Majority of the participants felt ‘very much better’ on PGI-scale. Being app- based, it has the added advantage of the ability to be used anytime and anywhere.

JOURNAL: International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health , May 2021

The objective of this study was to assess and quantify the extent of the benefits of the YOI protocols, that were made accessible through a novel YOI mobile application program. Traditionally the complete practices of YOI have, for many centuries, only been passed on through in-person sessions. The results demonstrated that depression and anxiety-related symptoms caused by the prolonged impact of physical distancing, stay-at-home orders and the morbidity associated with the COVID-19 disease, were significantly reduced the YOI app delivered interventions and assessment on-demand, overcoming barriers of time, cost and accessibility.

JOURNAL: Frontiers in Psychiatry, June 2021

Clinical insomnia rates have reportedly increased in recent times compared to the pre-COVID-19 era. Various factors such as the imposition of travel restrictions, social distancing measures, the spread of the disease worldwide and barriers to healthcare access, have caused unexpected psychological challenges in the form of emotional distress, stress and especially clinical insomnia. Statistical analysis showed that regular use of the YOI app was a novel and effective method which significantly improved insomnia symptoms among all age groups and both genders.

JOURNAL: Annals of Medical Research and Practice

The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant psychological challenges globally. Evidence has been mounting of greater emotional distress and possible worsening of underlying psychiatric disorders, due to repercussions of COVID-19. In addition, the pandemic has created barriers to access for help, due to social distancing and travel restrictions. Thus, creating a major need for effective interventions that can be accessed safely from home and provide coping tools which can be learned and practiced while in isolation. An App based Yoga of Immortals (YOI) program is one such strategy to help cope with stressful situations. The objective of this study was to investigate if the YOI program can provide significant benefit for depressive and insomnia symptoms.
